What we’re looking at
We want to learn about the students who are and who are not enrolling in French immersion programs.
We also want to learn about what parents, guardians, and teachers think about French immersion.
What does participation entail?
You can choose what part (or parts) of the study you are interested in completing. Ideally, you can complete both parts, but you can complete just one.

What will parents and guardians do?
Complete a 15 minute survey (online) about your opinions about language learning and about French immersion. We will also ask you a little about your background and experiences with French immersion. If you’re interested you can also participate in a 30-45 min interview with our research team.

Who will have access to my data?
Only the research team will have access to the data. It is kept in password-protected devices and we will never use any information that could identify you.
What are you going to do with the data you collect?
After analyzing the data, we hope to answer some of our bigger research questions. We will be using the data to write academic articles, and present at academic conferences. This will also be shared with the school board in a report.
Who is funding this research?
This project is supported through an Insight Development Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
